"Six crest seventy, six left tightens, six right tightens to five minus, thirty, five left plus cut, into six" - BOOM!

"Road, trees, sky, road, trees, sky, trees, I was thinking, my God where are we going to end up?!" Co-driver Nicky Grist reminisces on that massive roll on Rally GB 2001 where he and driver Colin McRae saw (and felt) their championship hopes slip away into the South Wales scenery.

The Ford Focus RS WRC they had been on course to win said championship in moments before, now sat smoking at the side of the road, with no hope of going any further.

That car, Y4 FMC, was then sold to a UK private national team (where it was rallied to relative success) but Grist acquired the original doors, bonnet and tailgate from the crashed Focus subsequently. They have sat in his private collection since then and now, through the Collecting Cars auction platform, he's offering a dedicated collector the chance to own a legendary piece of rally history from his career, and that of the late, great, Colin McRae.

Still complete with Welsh mud splatter, shattered glass, Network Q rally decals and all the Martini Racing logos you could ever want, it doesn't get much more genuine than this.

The auction for the job lot of this awesome collection of bent metal is now live at collectingcars.com.
